Minimum Requirements:
​

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Education or related field. (preferred)

RBT certification (preferred)
-
Driver's License
-
Completion pre-employment reference check

Drug screening, TB and health screening
-
Background check (Central Registry Clearance)

Basic Computer knowledge
Experience:

At least 1 year experience in ABA
-
At least 1-2 years experience working with children in healthcare related fields.
Work Location: Grand Rapids, MI - Travel is not required

General Responsibilities​: Behavior Technician is a specialized role that will be supervised by a BCBA. The role consists of implementing individualized behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans within a short term (14-28 day) residential unit. Our clients are children and adolescents who have mental health disorders as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This position is unique to the ABA field in that the technician is a full time employee not designated to a particular case. This position WILL NOT require travel from site to site. All clients will be seen in the short term crisis / residential unit.

Personal Traits:​ Must possess the understanding and ability to cope with emotionally impaired children, as well as the empathy needed to effectively provide services to behaviorally/emotionally challenged children that have an Autism diagnosis. Must be self-directed, responsible, and of good moral character.
Training that will be provided:
​

Complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training; focusing on verbal de-escalation.
-
Complete region-specific Behavioral Safety Training (Mandt / Gentle hands/ QBS) to assist in de-escalation of aggressive behavior.

Job Duties:
​

Record data on clients’ skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs.
-
Conduct parent /caregiver client update and training calls as needed.
-
Work closely with BCBA to provide clinical updates for all clients in the unit.

Work with clients to improve independence while targeting daily living and self-help skill programs such as:
-
Meal Preparation
-
Cleaning the residential premises
-
Daily Living skill programs such as completing basic Laundry with clients.
-
Provide personal care assistance to individuals as needed.
-
Lead daily activities such as games, crafts and a variety of social group activities.

Provide general upkeep of bedrooms, hygiene areas, day room as needed.

Work closely and provide clinical support to Direct Care staff.

Provide physical management support to staff if clients present with aggressive behavior.

Assist BCBA in making any materials needed.

Assist Autism House Manager with other duties as assigned.
